​This wonderful adventure started unexpectedly in October of 2012 while on vacation in Portland, Maine, we stumbled upon the words “Lavender Lemonade Mead” at the bottom of a café chalkboard. After a taste, a tour of the nearby Maine Mead Works and talking to Ben and Nick, we knew we found something very special. 

 

Embarking upon a homebrewing quest for knowledge and perfection, we filled our kitchen and basement with experimental bottles of mead. The journey eventually led us to making a mead so good it won Grand Champion at the prestigious Texas Mead Cup annual competition.

Finally, on September 10, 2016, after almost two years of painstaking repairing and rehabilitation of an industrial building that for decades was used by a roofing company, we opened doors to the public.  A historic date marking Delaware’s first Meadery and Cidery.  According to local brewing historian, John Medkeff, it’s been approximately 130 years since mead was professionally produced in the state of Delaware (pre-prohibition).

On February 18 2018  both Jeff and Terri became only a handful of Certified Cider Professionals  in this area of the United States. This designation from the USACM is only awarded to cider makers who pass an extensive examination. Liquid Alchemy Ciderworks was also awarded in 2018 by the US Open Cider Competition and GLINTCAP Competitions and recieved 4 medals for 3 of their flavors.
